THE prenationalization company of Dallas and Co. (Transport), Ltd., New Malden, Surrey, have returned to haulage under a new name with a fleet only a little more than half its original strength.

Mr. W. T. Dallas who, with his wife as co-director. has formed Dallas (Kingston), Ltd., successfully tendered for his old premises in Kingston Road, New Malden, together with 40 vehicles, including 23 articulated outfits (120 tons 9 cwt.). When Dallas and Co. was sold to the British Transport Commission in 1950, 75 vehicles were operated.

One of the largest units offered in list R.5 has been sold to Thamesmouth Transport, Ltd., who are associated with Essex Carriers. Based in West Street, Rochford, it comprises offices, a warehouse, workshop and garage and 16 operative lorries (48 tons) and three additional. Three Luton vans and two tippers are included.

The vehicles, which are due to be taken over from British Road Services on March 21, will be operated from the South Benfleet depot of Essex Carriers. Directors of 'Thamesmouth Transport are Mr. R. B. Brittain and Mr. Roby Smith.

Another successful tenderer for a Link in list R.5 is reported from the southern area.

NORTH-WEST " Five lorries (141 tons) have gone to P. G. and F. Beckett, Ltd., Moss Lane, Hale. Four of these (111) tons) were assigned by Mr. P. G. Beckett, 176 Moss Lane, Hale, Altrincham, and the other by Mr. F. Beckett.

Walker Bros. (Penwortham), Ltd., Stricklands Lane, Penwortham, near Preston, have taken over two lorries. (15 tons) in a first purchase. The following assignments have also been authorized by the North-Western Licensing Authority : Fearings Transport, Ltd., 76-80 Barracks Road, Burnley, one vehicle 15 tons) by R. Maudsley and Sons, Ltd., Blackburn; Mr. C. Lawrenson, 4 Chalmers Street, Liverpool, 7, one (3 tons) by Cusick (Oldham), Ltd., Oldham; Mr. T. C. Thomas, 107 Ed/field Street, Pemberton, near Wigan, one (44 tons) by Johnson Wild and Co., Ltd., The Woodlands, Ashton Road, Newton-1eWillows; and Mr. P. R. Wardle, 14 Waldon Road, Macclesfield, two (7 tons) by Langton Transport, Ltd., Stoke-on-Trent.

YORKSHIRE

A further two lorries have been acquired by Parkers Luxury Tours, Ltd., 231 Bawtry Road, Doncaster. Their first purchase was reported last week. Three lorries have been taken over by Mr. A. W. Petch (Service Haulage), 12 St. Augustine's Grove, Bridlington, and one by Messrs. G. Keen and Sons, 19 Clifton Street, Sheffield, 9, Mr. B. T. Weaver, 38 Barnsley Road, South Elmsall, has transferred another three lorries: one to Messrs. G. Bashforth and Son, Caulk Garage, Wombwell Lane, Stairfoot, near Barnsley: one to H. Blacker and Co., 21 Bandgate, Selby; and one to Pemberton and Butcher. Ltd., 212 Barnsley Road. Cudworth, near Barnsley.

J. S. Stables (Kingsway Motors), Ltd., Dewsbury Road, Ossett, and Mr. E. Crabtree, Deanstones Lane, Queensbury, have also each assigned three vehicles.

Thompson, Sandstop, North Newbald (one); and Weseol (Brad), Ltd., Deanstones Lane, Queensbury.

WEST MIDLANDS Allenways, Ltd. (T. E. Weatherhogg and Son Irransport]), 152 Amington Road, Yardley, Birmingham,' have bought another nine lorries (241 tons) and assigned three (81 tons) to Mr. L. Wooldridge, Hermit Street, Upper Gornal.

More vehicles have also been purchased from British Road Services by Messrs.' F. Lewis and Sons, 155-167 Miller Street, Aston, Birmingham (one-7 tons); Mr. S. Talbot, 2 Wells Green Road, Sheldon (one-6 tons); and Hall Transport, Ltd., Wood Lane, Short Heath, Willenhall (two —61 ions).

New purchasers include Mr. J. T. Oxenham, 228 Foleshill Road, Coventry (two vehicles-61 tons), and Mr. T. H. Haden, 109 Queen's Cross, Dudley (one3 tons).

Of nine lorries (331 tons) taken over by Mr. P. J. Butler, 12' Joining's Bank, Langley, six have been assigned. Two (91 tons) have gone to Mr. A. Mason, 37 Sandon Road, Birmingham, 17, and one to each of the following: T. Holmes and Sons (West Bromwich), Ltd. 12-14 Moor Street, West Bromwich (3i tons); Mr. B. H. Siviter, Patrick House, Westcroft, Cannock Road, Wolverhampton (31 tons): Avon Express Transport and Repair Co., Ltd., Paddock Lane, Stratford upon Avon (3 tons); and Mr. W. Woodhall, 38 high Street, Coalport (3 tons).

Beresford Transport, Ltd., High Street, Tunstall, who have taken over a further three lorries (15 tons) from Mr. K. Bcresford, Bignall End, Stoke-on-Trent, have re-assigned two (91 tons) to A. and H. Davey (Roadways), Ltd., Vernon Road, Stoke-on-Trent.

Caudle, Ltd., Coventry Road, Sheldon, Birmingham, have sold three lorries; two (6 tons) to C. J. Ruddock Services, Ltd., 154 Common Lane, Sheldon, Birmingham, and one (3 tons) to Mrs. D. T. Wilkins, 856 Tyburn Road, Erdington, Birmingham.

SOUTHERN AREA Mr. L. A. Walter (East Dorset Transport), Station Road, West Moors, Dorset, who already has some 12 lorries running under special A licences, has successfully tendered for a two-vehicle unit in list R.5. Based at Henstridge (4736), it comprises two Dodge 6-tonners.

LONDON AND HOME COUNTIES

Mr. W. T. Dallas, whose company, Dallas and Co. (Transport), Ltd., was voluntarily sold to the British Transport Commission in 1950, is back in business with his original premiscs and a fleet of 40 vehicles, including 23 articulated outfits (120 tons 9 cwt.).

With his wife as co-director, Mr. Dallas has formed a new company, Dallas (Kingston), Ltd., and since January has been operating from his original address in Kingston Road, New Malden, Surrey. Since Mr. Dallas first began operating in 1923, he has built up a reputation for carrying abnormal indivisible loads, his special lines being aircraft (including the Vickers Viscount), boats and delicate machinery. He also effects factory removals and carries road plant.

When they went out of the haulage industry in 1950, Dallas and Co. had 75 vehicles. Today the fleet comprises veh:cles with capacities ranging from five to 20 tons.
