Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Additions to the range of lowloaders produced by Cook and Talbot Engineers Ltd, Oxford Street, Hull, consist of three rear-loading semi-trailers designed to carry contractors' plant and fork-lift trucks. They are also considered suitable for use as cable drum trailers.

Construction embodies I-section main members varying between 10in. by 5.75in. and 12in. by 5in. and channel section crossmembers of minimum dimensions 6in. by 3in., depending on size and gross weight of the semi-trailer required. Floor construction is of Malayan hardwood covered with expanded metal. The heavy-duty ramp is raised hydraulically from a position forward of the rear mudguards, to form the rear door. The width between the rear mudguards is approximately 5ft 9in. but can be increased to 6ft in certain circumstances. Also positioning of the kingpin can be varied slightly during manufacture to accommodate different types of tractor unit.

Single-axle models have a semi-elliptical leaf-spring suspension whereas the two-axle model is of the rocking beam type. The three-axle model has a leaf spring suspension that distributes the load over the three axles. A three-line Berg brake system is used with spring brake actuators operating on all wheels. The 15.25in. by 4.25in. Girling wedge brakes used can be altered if desired to the cam-operated type.

Available as previously mentioned, with one, two or three axles. the trailers have well capacities of 6 tons. 9 to 13 tons and 16 to 17 tons respectively. Basic prices are £1300 for the single axle, £2000 for the two-axle and £2600 for the three-axle with well lengths of 14ft 9in., 22 to 26ft and 22 to 27ft respectively. Extras available include sideboards, spare wheel, winch; longer, ramp and larger wheels can be supplied if required.
