MR. J. RATTER has been appointed a full-time member of the British Transport Commission. He Succeeds SIR LANSDALE TRAIN, who is due to retire on September 30.
MR. J. L. STURROCK has been made a director of E. Boydell and Co., Ltd., Manchester, manufacturers of Muir-Hill dumpers, loaders and shunters. He has been sales manager for six years.
MR. I. M. FORBES has been appointed manager of a new branch of the Mobil Oil Co., Ltd., recently opened in Catte, water Road, Plymouth. The branch will handle lubricating oil business in Devon and Cornwall.
MR. C. W. ADSHEAD and MR. C. L. J. FREEMAN have been appointed joint managing directors of Setright Registers, Ltd., London, E.9. MR. H. C. CARTER, commercial manager, has also been appointed to the board.
MR. V. HELD has been appointed manager of the Southall spare parts department of A.C.V. Sales,Ltd. He replaces MR. T. H. W. Fliarlarms, who died. early this year. MR. J. H. WA1KINSON will be his deputy.
MR. I.. R. MUNRO, director of manufacturing and acting manager of the Glasgow plant operated by the Caterpillar Tractor Co., Ltd., has been elected a vice-president of the parent company in Peoria, Illinois. He will assume administrative responsibility for its manufacturing division. MR. WILLIAM Buscxte has relinquished the presidency of Caterpillar's foreign trade group, which includes the British organization, and has been succeeded by MR. CECIL E. SPAIN, a vice-president. Mr. Spain's successor for the administration of domestic sales and sales promotion is MR. W. K. 'Cox, sales promotion .manager, who has been elected a vicepresident.

MR. MAURICE MOSS has been appointed managing director of the Elswick-Hopper Cycle and Motor Co., Ltd., Barton-onHumber (Lincs). He will operate from London MR. JACK MILNER, an area representative of Romac, Ltd,, is in hospital following a road accident in which he sustained multiple injuries. His/condition is " satisfactory."
Ma. F, YEOMANS has been appointed industrial relations officer of Shell-Mex and B.P., Ltd. For the past three years he has been assistant manager of the company's Jarrow-on-Tyne installation.
MR. EDWARD TOOMER, Nottingham garage superintendent for the Trent Motor Traction Co., Ltd., for the past 21 years, has retired. He had been with the company for more than 47 years.
MR. M. Mcrriuo has been appointed sales manager of the Londoii division of Shell-Mex and B.P., Ltd. He succeeds Ma. C. S. MARTIN, who becomes manager of the company's North Western division.
MR. STANLEY DAWES has been installed for the 12th time as president of the Institute of the Motor Industry. Ma. R. C. MOYLE, until recently educational co-ordinator to the Nuffield Organization, has been appointed education officer of the Institute.
MR. D. H. Foutaas, commercial manager of British Road Services, has joined the board of Anglo-Continental Container Services, Ltd., and becomes chairman. Other new directors are MR. G. A. ASHLEY, freight manager of the Transport Ferry Service, and MR. W. PARKINSON, Preston district manager of B.R.S.
MR. D. S. RICFIARDSON has been appointed sales manager of the Nightingale Engineering Co., Lid., a subSidiary of Atkinson Vehicles, Ltd. He will be responsible for sales in the London area. MR. ARTHUR R. YOUNG, of Nightingale Engineering, has been appointed sales liaison officer for Atkinson Vehicles at Walton-le-Dale.
