Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• West Yorkshire Waste Management Joint Committee has retrofitted all 109 vehicles in its group with Disc-Lock wheel nuts.

It says that because of its type of operation its tractors have an average of 39 wheel changes a year. Coupled with the rough terrain the fleet encounters, this causes an above-average incidence of wheel nuts working loose.

Following a successful trial of the nuts the decision was made to equip the whole fleet. ATS North Eastern, a Disc-Lock distributor, will handle the fitting.

The committee's vehicles col. lect 750,000 tonnes of waste a year from Bradford, Calderdale, Kirklees, Leeds and Wakefield.
