• Hays Distribution has won a multi-million-pound fouryear contract for the storage and distribution of frozen products for 113 Waitrose supermarkets in the UK.
• Liverpool-based distribution company Nightfreight has lost the contract to distribute the Independent newspaper titles. The threeyear contract was due to finish in May and Nightfreight has agreed compensation with Mirror Group Newspapers. Exel Logistics is favourite to take over.
• Plans to build a Cl2rn cold storage and distribution site on the South Quay of Grimsby docks have been approved by Cleethorpes Borough Council. Completion is due in 1997.
• Swift Transport Services, the contract arm of Christian Salvesen Distribution, has won the 2600,000 threeyear contract to manage the UK distribution of parts for Porsche Cars Great Britain.
• Express parcel carrier ANC has signed a one-year contract to deliver specialist parcels to Toys 'R' Us. More than 50 vehicles will be servicing the toy chain's 50 stores throughout the UK three times a week.
• Sutton-in-Ashfield-based international freight forwarder Thompson Jewitt is handing distribution For hair care supplier Matrix Essentials for a further three years.
• Wincanton Logistics has won a three-year contract with Preston-based Hollywood Express to distribute food products to 26 cinemas throughout the UK on behalf of UC1.
