Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A TOTAL OF 66 MPS have now signed an Early Day Motion (EDM) calling for all HGV drivers to undertake a cycling-awareness training course as part of the Driver CPC.

The motion which was initially filed on 13 January says that MPs are concerned about the disproportionate risk of death to cyclists in accidents involving HGVs, claiming that such incidents account for seven-in-12 cyclist deaths in London in 2009.

It recommends that all trucks are equipped with side sensors, in-cab supervision systems, class IV safety mirrors and audible warnings. It also calls for conditions of access to city centres for HGVs.

FreightTransport Association (FTA) director of communications JoTanner says: "As a sector, we recognise our enhanced responsibility brought about by the size and strength of the vehicles we use, which is why we invest so much on driver training."

She adds that the FTA will be rolling out its 'Know Your Artic From Your Elbow' campaign, launched last year to university students, to the wider public in the spring.
