LINKS between Neville-Charrold and the French Trailor company have been severed.
The agreement made in 1981 ran into trouble through a breakdown in the commitment to staffing and resources.
However, existing part orders outstanding on the Luneville plant will be followed through by Neville-Charrold.
Originally it was envisaged that Neville-Charrold would use Trailor frames as the basis for 38-tonne tipping semi-trailers. "In practice, they proved to be unduly heavy. Neville Charrold has developed an in-house design which is lighter, less costly and offers step-frame options", said managing director Phil Charlesworth.
Trailor is to establish a parts centre in the Mansfield area, in conjunction with Sherwood Trailers, to be operational from September 1. The company also plans to set up a distribution network with about eight outlets.
