Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• British Leyland has made an addition to its light and medium capacity Redline truck range. The new vehicle is a Redline Mastiff two-axle truck equipped for operation either as a single rigid unit at 16 tons gross weight or with a drawbar trailer at 28 tons gross.

Drawbar versions of the Mastiff utilize established features from both the rigid and artic chassis to achieve reliability and vehicle performance with a weight increase of only 2cwt. Operators wishing to run mixed fleets of rigid, articulated and drawbar vehicles, will benefit from reduced parts inventories. For example, the Perkins V8 510 diesel which develops 168 bhp at 2800 rpm is common to all Mastiff models and the fivespeed gearbox with Eaton two-speed axle is common to tractive units and drawbar machines.

Other standard features of the Mastiff specification are the twin plate 12in. clutch, power-assisted steering, fail-safe spring braking for secondary and parking circuits and a torsion bar counter-balanced tilt cab.
