TNCREASED penalties for evasion of vehicle licence duties laid down in this year's Finance Act are now in force.
The penalty for this offence has gone up from £20 or three times the annual rate of duty payable, whichever is the greater, to £50 or five times the annual rate of duty payable, whichever is the greater. The penalty for a trade van weighing 30cwt (unladen) will be £180; and for a five-ton goods vehicle £630.
