Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• by Colin Barnett Cummins has signed a deal to provide engines for a new line-up of ERFs. This counters any fears that the transfer of most ERF production to MAN plants in Germany and Austria would mean the end of the highly successful partnership.

Cummins-powered ERFs have traditionally attracted a loyal customer base, and the pairing has a history of outstanding fuel economy results when tested by CommercialMotor.

The "long-term" engine supply agreement will cover two model lines: • The 11-litre ISMe engine will be fitted to a range of tractors with ratings at 385 and 420hp, as well as the dual-rated 420 ESP, which automatically switches between 345hp/1,710Nm and 420hp/2,010Nm

according to Operating requirements. NI A rigid range will get the Darlington-built 5.9-litre ISBe using common-rail injection to produce up to 220hp/820Nm.

Cummins will become ERF's sole external engine supplier. Recognising the high regard in which the pairing is held by UK fleets and ownerdrivers, and the need to maintain ERF's brand identity, MAN Executive Board member Dr Georg PachtaReyhofen says: "With this power partnership now secured and a new range of trucks to launch, our ERF trod business Can now move ahead with confidence."
