• Scania plans to introduce an electro-pneumatic gearshifting system into the UK on its latest GR801 seven-speed coach gearbox, which is currently only available on the Continent.
The Comfort Shift system has been available on the three-axle K113TL chassis for a couple of months on the Continent, following requests from German operators.
Like Volvo's Easy Gear Shift (EGS) system, which was introduced almost three years ago, it is said to give smooth gearshifting and reduce driveline wear by replacing the mechanical gear linkage.
Comfort Shift is operated by a gear lever beside the driver's seat. It is not designed to replace Scania's computer-aided
