Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Foden has introduced a major package of product improvements on its tractor and rigid chassis which includes a revised Cummins engine option in its 4000 Series and an all-new 24-tonne urban tractor based on its recently launched 2000 Series rigid.

The Sandbach-based truck maker is now offering the 205kW (275hp) version of the 10-litre charge-cooled Cummins L10 engine in all 4000 Series tractors and rigids. The LTA10-275, which has a peak torque of 1,166Nm (860lbft), replaces the previous 216kW (290hp) L10 option.

From now on Foden will provide the L10 at 205kW or 242kW (325hp), with the 10.5-litre 3306B Cat engine offered at 201 or 224kW (270/300hp).

Noise levels on Li 0-powered Fodens have been cut by up to 1.5dB(A) through the use of a revised front-end gear housing incorporating a stiffer pressed-steel gear cover. Oil-change intervals have been extended by increasing engine oil capacity to 34 litres.

Other new 4000 Series options include an integral roof deflector for day-cab tractors, claimed to improve fuel economy, and a left-hand-drive tractor with the cab.

Following the launch of its 17-tonne 2000 Series rigid, Foden has produced a 24-tonne GCW 4x2 tractor derivative powered by the six-litre 157kW (210hp) Perkins Phaser engine driving through either an Eaton or a ZF synchro box.

Intended primarily for urban operations, particularly with brewery transport fleets, the Foden 2000 Series tractor is capable of meeting a "road ready" unladen kerbweight of 4,768kg. Options include an exhaust brake, Bendix air dryer, alloy wheels and fuel tank and a sleeper cab.

For municipal, tipper and mixer hauliers Foden is providing an optional vertical exhaust on the 2000 Series, which now comes with an air-assisted clutch as standard, Other options added to the Foden line-up include an Eberspacher DILC night heater on all models, as well as a line-fitted flywheel PT-0 on Cummins 6BTA-180 and Perkins Phaser 210Ti-engined chassis. The Sandwich-type PT-0 is intended for the refuse and mixer market.
