a semi-trailer of 3 tons 1 Ocwt and sometimes use a drawbar trailer of 1 ton 2cwt unladen. What rate of taxation is payable? Is an attendant required and would I be able to carry new machinery for a manufacturer on trade plates?
AFor taxation purposes the unladen weight
of the heaviest of the trailers would need to be added to the unladen weight of the tractive unit to assess the amount of tax payable, namely 7 tons 5cwt. When the drawbar trailer is used a statutory attendant will be required to travel on the vehicle Trade plates cannot be used on a vehicle carrying any goods for hire or reward.
