ecause there was insufficient work for her le under contract licences, Mrs. M. Kelly rexham applied to the North Western LA ester on Tuesday for a new B licence to le a 4i-ton tipper within a 35-mile radius. were three objectors.

s. Kelly said her last contract had been reith Bodfari Sand and Gravel Ltd. carrying Widnes, Runcorn and Merseyside. But had gone down greatly. She had aphed a number of companies who had m letters offering her work within the area. Her son who drove the vehicle, Mr. Kelly, said there was work available at ac's quarry at Minera and West Lancs act's Ltd. quarry at Bryn y Gaer, both within 5 miles of Wrexham. Ind Coope lad promised him a contract for removing hops and a builder. Lloyd Evans, could )y him locally.

. E. Chadwick. director of West Lanes acts, said the daily tonnage to be moved from his quarry was between 600 and 1,000 tons, mainly to ICI at Runcorn. He only had two of his own vehicles, two on contract and one pending and there was a shortage every day. "I got 10 today and could have done with 20," he said. Questioned by Mr. G. H. P. Beames for the objectors, Mr. Chadwick said that three weeks ago he had failed to supply McAlpine with road stone through lack of transport, and there were now some big contracts pending.

He had 10 different hauliers who worked for him when available, supplying sometimes eight, sometimes 15 vehicles.

Mr. Hodgson said it was quite clear that West Lanes Contracts was a thriving business which was short of transport and he would grant the licence to carry sand and gravel, road construction material, and building materials within 35 miles for this company, but if the applicant required more scope he would have to ask the letter writers to attend personally to support a variation.
