NFC borrowings

• Any borrowings by the National Freight Corporation from the National Loans Fund will attract interest at the current rate, now 8 per cent for 10-year loans, explained Mr. Richard Marsh in the Commons last week.

He was replying to Mr. James Dance (Tory, Bromsgrove), who also asked how much of the total of over £5m authorized for the replacement of obsolete vehicles by National Carriers Ltd. had so far been spent.

The Minister replied that the way in which approved investment expenditure was phased during the year was a matter of management for the NFC. The purchase would be financed by the Corporation from its own resources or from the usual sources of loan capital.
