In a recent issue of THE COMMERCIAL MOTOR we described the conveyer system of assembling motor lorry chassis employed at the Walthamstow Works of the Associated Equipment Co., Ltd. Their Majesties, the King and Queen, visited these works on Thursday last, and were greatly interested in the system, which has achieved an output of 125 three-ton lorries per week. Their Majesties were received by Mr. Z. E. Knapp, general manager, Mr. S. A. Wallace, works manager. Mr. J. P. O'Neill, production engineer, and Mr. C. W. Reeve, works accountant, e34 A large number of girls and women are employed at these works, and the Queen discussed the conditions under which they work with Mrs. Philps, who is responsible for their welfare. The machine. tool department, erecting shops, radiator shop, dashboard-erecting shop, and the stores from which the conveyer is fed were all inspected by the royal visitors, who were also shown the laboratory and the testing machines at work. Their Majesties made _a most thorough tour of the establishment, and were everywhere received with the greatest enthusiasm.
