Cambridgeshire haulier and dealer enters administration

A CAMBRIDGESHIRE truck dealership, breakdown recovery service and haulier has been forced to appoint accountants from Baker Tilly after it went into administration.

Mercedes-Benz and Renault authorised repairer Fengate Commercial Services (FCS), along with recovery organisation Focus Bodysystems, called in the financial experts on 21 August.

Four days later, debenture holder Lloyds TSB appointed Baker Tilly to place Fengate Holdings into administrative receivership. All the businesses share the same directors Phil and Rita Biddlecombe.

Phil Biddlecombe was behind the launch of "micro-haulier" Fengate Logistics, part of FCS, in October 2008. At the time, he said: "A micro-haulier is traditionally seen as a one-man band or a man and a truck; but we are different, we have unique access to the complete range of vehicles to match your transport needs. We can match the vehicle from our fleet to keep costs down and reduce the impact on the environment."

The last available set of accounts for FCS reveal that turnover was £6.7m in the year ending 31 December 2007 and it made a pre-tax profit of £81,000.

Rita declined to comment and Phil did not return CM's calls.

Baker Tilly was unable to respond.
