Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

have given the log book to the purchaser. Must 1 take any further action about notifying the tax people that I no longer own the vehicle or is it up to the new owner to tell them ?

A There is a proper pro cedure laid down for notifying the taxation authority of a change of vehicle ownership. Both the previous and the new owner have responsibilities in this matter. The former owner must notify the taxation authority that he has sold or otherwise disposed of the vehicle and the new owner should insert his own name and address in the log book and send it to the authorities. Any change of address must also be notified.

Incidentally, motor traders with a trade licence must inform the authority of the acquisition or disposal of a vehicle. Within three months of acquiring a vehicle or on' its disposal when they relinquish ownerships, whichever is the sooner.
