Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

I AM SURE that many will have been intrigued by the decision to increase trailer length by 2.05m, after a consultative process that only received 318 responses (but should have involved thousands) showed a clear lack of interest in the subject.

The breakdown of the igure was 253 against the proposal, 24 no preference and a mere 41 in favour. Surprisingly, transport minister Mike Penning (pictured) was in favour. He must have been the recipient of a failed education system, as it would seem he believes that 41 is greater than 253, or is it just that Penning has contempt for the democratic process, a process that elected him to Parliament in the irst place? Using the Penning formula in the recent Parliamentary debate regarding a referendum on the UK’s position in Europe, which resulted in 111 voting for the proposal while 483 voted against, we would now be looking forward to a full referendum on our position in Europe.

He has insulted the industry’s intelligence, treated those who took part in the consultation with contempt and raised issues about his integrity. He should resign and join Liam Fox on the backbenches. Peter F Orr Plymouth

Ed’s note: Strong words, Peter, and not a little mischievous! We feel it is important that highvolume trailers are given a fair trial.
