Sutherlands of Peterhead (Road Haulage) Ltd. are doing good business with major oil producers. Placed strategically in Peterhead, with depots in Frazerburgh, Aberdeen, Glasgow and Great Yarmouth, this medium sized general haulage business has been developed to provide a reliable daily trunking service between Peterhead and Great Yarmouth for vital North Sea equipment supplies.
The high standard of reliability demanded by the oil companies is achieved by a rigorous servicing schedule. The 40 or so flats Sutherlands operate are serviced every three weeks (approximately 5000 miles). To reduce routine maintenance as far as possible, Sutherlands started to fit SAB brake adjusters two years ago. Some 40% of the fleet is now equipped and the product is part of the company's standard new build specification.
As a matter of routine, Sutherlands still check brake adjustment but have found the SAB adjuster has eliminated the need for manual adjustment of any kind.
