Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

England and Wales to stop truck drivers under the Police Reform Act 2002, Paragraph 8 of Schedule 5 of the Act gives Vosa officers the power of a police constable to stop a vehicle. Also, section 67(9) of the Road Traffic Act makes it an offence not to comply with a requirement of section 67.

Under section 67(3) there is a requirement to stop for a test if a constable in uniform orders the vehicle to stop. An accredited person in this case a Vosa officer also exercises that power, so anyone who refuses to stop is failing to comply with a requirement under section 67.

Vosa can stop trucks for roadworthiness checks and then conduct further examinations and issue prohibitions.

If a driver fails to stop the details of the incident are noted, a report is submitted and the driver will be interviewed. Prosecution will be considered and a report may be passed to the Traffic Commissioner. In addition, some police forces have asked to be given these details.
