• Shell and BP tanker drivers will get rises of £2-L3 a week under a new pay and productivity deal agreed this week. About 3,300 drivers are involved. Their present weekly rate is about 121
Local TGWU branches are now being sent details of the agreement, reached at national level but still subject to Government approval.
The drivers will be asked to accept the gradual introduction of larger tankers and new methods of working. Performance standards are to be reviewed and the employers hope to cut unplanned overtime.
