Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

THE Beech ing report must put road hauliers on their toes, ready to offer efficient facilities or to attract new traffic where lines were closed, said Mr. George T. Fraser, chairman of the R.H,A. Aberdeen sub-area, at a meeting in Keith on Sunday.

It was not strictly true, said Mr. Fraser, that there was not adequate alternative transport.

"The road hauliers are ready in this area with facilities to meet additional transport needs." He had no doubt that this country needed both rail and road transport, and he saw no reason why rail and road operators could not co-operate to provide efficient transport.

While some feared the consequences if a Labour Government were returned to power. Mr. Fraser felt that, if hauliers used the same ability they showed in surmounting difficulties in the early days of building up their businesses and co-operated through their associations, thcy need have no fear for the future, irrespective of what government was in power.
