Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

TH_E Road Haulage Wages Council is L to meet on June 18 to discuss the three-part claim for new overtime, subsistence and night money rates (The Commercial Motor. April 19) lodged five weeks ago. The claims have been put forward jointly by the Transport and General Workers Union, the Scottish Horse and Motormen's Association, the United Road Transport Workers Association, and the National Union of General and Municipal Workers.

They arc asking that the minimum overtime rate for haulage workers be raised from time and a quarter to time and a half, that the subsistence allowance be increased to 22s., and that night-duty money be paid at one-third the basic hourly wage rate. The employers' panel is expected to meet a few days before the joint meeting, both to discuss their approach to the claims put forward by the unions and to elect a new chairman.
