SPECIAL bodywork being built by Transport Trading (Vehicles) Ltd., Southbourne, Hants, on a Carrimore semi-trailer can be expanded to provide a 30 ft. by 26 ft. "exhibition hall ". The body, which is now almost completed, was designed by the John Delaney Organization which will use the vehicle to mount exhibitions throughout the U.K. as well as on the Continent. The new unit will overcome the difficulty of finding adequate accommodation in many areas.

Basis of the mobile exhibition hall is a specially designed Carrirnore 26-ft.long by 8-ft.-wide single-axle semi-trailer. The running gear, suspension, brake equipment, lighting. and wings are mounted on a sub-frame attached to the main frame through two spring-loaded locking pins. This has been done so that the axle and units can be removed quickly on the site to allow the body to be lowered to give a low floor height. Four jacks mounted permanently at the front and rear of the main frame are provided to raise the vehicle for removal of the running gear, to lower it and to support it in the lowered position.

Both sides of the body extend outwards, folding floor and roof sections for each extension being hinged to the body main framework and the sides. The sides of the extensions are closed by vertically hinged panels; two for each aperture, one hinged to the corner of the main framing the other to the side pillar. The operation of extending the sides is carried out by using two special vertical-post trolley jacks These locate at the corners of the sides and can be adjusted for height to

a28 take care of uneven ground. When the sides are fully out, special brace-type jacks are let down—six under each extension—to support the floor.

Total floor area of the " " is 750 sq. ft. and the lowest point of the roof is 8 ft. from the floor. Overall height of the vehicle ready for the road is 14 ft. 4 in. Access to the interior is through 12-ft.-wide sliding doors at the end of each extension (the body sides) and 3-ft.-wide doors at the front and rear of the main body. Collapsible steps for each position are provided.

Equipment incorporated in the exhibition unit consists of an electric transformer capable of taking various mains supplies, air-conditioning plant, singleand three-phase electric points and full ceiling fluorescent lighting is built in.

The semi-trailer will be used with a Seddon 16/4/354 tractive unit, the outfit (except for the body) being supplied through Halls (Finchley) Ltd.
