Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Silcock Express is planning to acquire its competitor Toleman for around £15 million: a move expected to produce "the largest single car transporter in the UK".

Silcock's parent, Tibbett & Britten Group, hopes the deal will be completed within six weeks, subject to its examination of Toleman's books. The merger is expected to give Tibbett & Britten at least 25% of the UK car transporter market, according to its chairman and chief executive John Harvey. Tibbett & Britten acquired Silcock in autumn 1992.

Silcock and Tolman delivers 95% of Ford's new cars sold in the UK. Toleman also carries for Nissan. Silcock carries for Jaguar, Peugeot, Volkswagen and Rover.

Harvey says it is too early to say if the merger will result in redundancies. Last summer the two car transporter firms were known to be considering making staff redundant on the Ford contract at Halewood and Dagenham (CM 17-23 June 1993).
