TRUCK REGISTRATIONS continued in their depressc,l Stale last month, although the rate of decline is flattening.

Registrations of trucks over 6 tonnes totalled 1,875 in May. down 14.5% on May 2009. Registrations in April were 20.2% down year-on-year, so the rate of decline is falling.

For the year to date, registrations stand at 9,147 24.2% down on the first five months of 2009. Registrations to April were 26.3% down year-on-year.

In the year to May, DAF continues to lead the market with a 28.2% market share, ahead of Mercedes-Benz on 16.2%. Third place goes to Scanta with 14.2% in front of Iveco (10.7% ),Volvo (8,8%), Renault (74% ),MAN (6.2%) and Isuzu (2.5%).

Registrations of vans up to 3.5 tonnes improved by 32.8% in May to 17025, and by 15.4% to 87131 in the year to date.

Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders chief executive Paul Everitt says: -It is vital that the Igovernment's1 emergency Budget keeps the recovery moving.
