EXPERIMENTAL equipment has been installed on the MI i Bedfordshire as part of the Transport and Road Researc Laboratory's programme of seeking ways to improve inform tion and control systems on motorways.
Loop detectors buried in the surface of the northboun carriageway are to be connected to data recording equiptnet housed in cabinets at the side of the motorway.
The equipment will not be capable of identifying vehicles bi it will collect information on traffic behaviour in norm conditions and during incidents such as accidents.
