Daf has returned to the 'special edition tractor' fray with its latest XF95 'Alpine'—billed as Britain's most luxurious truck. The Alpine, which will only be available to UK operators, features over £9,000 worth of satnay kit, plus in-cab entertainment and aerodynamic equipment—but at a special price of £7,700.

The Full XF Alpine package (see tint box below) is aimed specifically at owner-drivers and small-fleet buyers and is clearly intended to take on the 'Classic' cab package offered by Scania.

It is only available with the highest-roof XF95 Super Space Cab. The technology comes courtesy of Alpine Electronics which provides mobile media systems to luxury car-makers Bentley and Range Rover as well as Sunseeker Boats.

Oaf Trucks' marketing director Tony Pain says the Alpine "sets a new standard in truck specification. Combined with the standard features of the Super Space Cab such as air-con, fridge, leather seats, electric windows/mirrors and sunroof and walnut-trimmed dash, the mobile-media qualities of the XF Alpine moves cab comfort into a new league. Drivers will have at their fingertips one of the most advanced sat-nay and entertainment systems available in any class of vehicle."

According to Oaf: "The cost of the items in the Alpine package, if bought separately, would be over £9,000 on 4x2 tractors and nearly £8,000 on all other XF models (in addition to the normal Super Space Cab spec). However, customer prices are only 17,700 and 16,500 respectiveV'

Along with the Alpine package, Daf is also offering a mirror-mounted colour reversing camera (£350) and traffic management system (now.
