We record with regret the deaths of Harry Atkinson, W. B. Christison, W. Stanley Greenwood and Charles Basil ("Poppa") Nixon.

Mr Atkinson, 63, was managing director of the General Omnibus Co, Chester-le-Street, Co Durham.

Mr Christison, 69, retired in 1967 as general manager of W. Alexander and Sons (Northern) Ltd, Aberdeen. Before taking his Aberdeen post in 1948 he was general manager of W. Alexander and Sons (Midland) Ltd.

Mr Greenwood was a retired Nutclough, Hebden Bridge, Yorks, haulier.

Mr Nixon, 93, joined Lancashire Steam Motor Company—direct predecessor of Leyland Motors Ltd—as company secretary in 1906: in 1923 he was appointed deputy managing director of Leyland Motors and chairman and governing director in 1942. He retired as chairman of Leyland in 1957 and in 1962 relinquished his position on the board of directors after 55 years. He was a past president of the Society of Motor Manufacturers and raders.
