Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A LIGHTWEIGHT single-axle semiPA trailer has been added to the range made by Crane Fruehauf Trailers Ltd. It has been named the Lightleader, has a capacity of I0/12 tons and is available with either S.A.E. king pin or automatic coupling.

The new model has been designed for operation with medium-size tractive units at up to 18 tons gross train weight and employs a specially designed suspension. Leaf springs are used, the forward ends being positively located, with the rears slipper-mounted. Above the ends of the springs are pack against which the top leaves bear, the pads being shaped so that as load is applied to the semi-trailer the effective lengths of the springs are reduced. This gives a degree of progressive suspension.

The main frame of the Lightleader is made up of fabricated I beam longitudinals with rolled

steel cross-members threaded through and welded. The solid axle is 4.5 in. diameter and 8-stud hubs are standard, with 10stud optional. Brakes are Girling 15-25 in. by 5 in. wedge-operated and actuation is by vacuum or air on fifth-wheel and mechanical on automatic models.

Standard overall length is 26 ft., but this can be varied in 1-ft. stages from 22 ft. upwards and the unladen weight of a 26-ft.-long 12-tonner with fifth-wheel coupling is said to be 2 tons 4-5 cwt. List price in the basic form is £605. B.M.C. WF Prices
