• At Carlisle on Monday the Northern LA removed seven vehicles from the B licence and two from the A licence of J. Johnston and Co. Ltd., West Linton, owing to fluctuation in the level of operation. At the same time one unit was suspended from January 15 to February 14 under section 178. An application by A. E. Thompson, of Penrith, for one of Johnston's B licences for a flat and container was refused: Thompson, however, may apply for a new licence in respect of the same vehicle,
