Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

THIS week's prize-winning contribution was sent in by Mr. T. Montgomery, of Portobello, Edinburgh. His idea con

corns the removal and refitting of the spare wheel of the Bedford S-type tractive unit, saving up to 15 minutes' working time.

The S-type has the spare wheel fitted under the chassis on the driver's side. As the air cylinder for the brakes is fitted above it there is only about 2.5 in. to put your hand through with a spanner to loosen the two back nuts. This is where a great deal of time is lost as each nut takes quite a lot of turning before it comes off the bolt.

A way of doing this job quickly is to first loosen the nuts just enough to free them, then to put a piece of rope or string round the nut and remove it quickly and easily. This applies to refitting as well.
