Gist ready to take over VOW

GIST HAS been given the green light to base 24 vehicles and six trailers at the VOW Europe facility in Wakeield Europort, Normanton, West Yorks.

The logistics irm announced in January that it would take over VOW’s transport operations for the North East, North-West, and Scotland, at sites in Normanton, Seaham, County Durham and Glasgow in a £10m deal (CM 13 January).

VOW will no longer manage any of its transport in-house and 60 staff will join GIST through a TUPE transfer arrangement.

A total of 45 vehicles will be based at the three depots, which will carry out about 1,000 deliveries per day. Gist now manages the transport operations for VOW in every UK region, except South-East England. Martin Gwynn, chief executive of Gist, says: “By extending our relationship, Gist can continue to deliver the best service and value to VOW and their customers.”
