Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

POLICE ARE appealing for witnesses to an attempted truck theft on the M57 to come forward.

The incident happened at around 1Gpm on 24 January when two trucks carrying cigarettes and tobacco were en route to the Crewe area from Liverpool. As the drivers took the exit slip road to the Tarbock Island junction with the M62 at Whiston they were confronted by several men, who blocked the slip road with a van.

One driver was able to run away, while the second driver was put into a white transit van. He was driven to Doraville and released, where he was able to raise the alarm.

The thieves had two tractor units, which police believe would have been used to steal the trailers. These tractors have been recovered by police. Police also recovered a 2004 registration silver Skoda Octavia, which may have been used by the offenders. The white transit van has also been found. The offenders were wearing dark clothing and balaclavas.

DCI Ray Galloway, from Knowsley CID, says: "This was clearly an extremely organised group of criminals, who for some reason were eventually unable to carry out the intended theft of these two trucks. We are appealing for any witnesses to contact us." Contact: Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111
