We were present, last week, at the fourth annual dinner of the Industrial Transport Association, which was attended by a representative gathering of men well known in transport circles. The president, Mr. P. S. Hannon, M.P., took the chair, and the speakers included Messrs. Elliot Hoyk, M.Inst.T., J. J. Hughes, M.Inst.T. (both these gentlemen being vice-presidents), W. Oldham, M.Inst.T. (chairman of the Association) and Mrs. C. R. Taylor, F.S.S. (hon. treasurer). . The guest of honour was Major H. E. Crawford, A.F.C., a prominent member of the Royal Commission on Transport, who made an impromptu but excellent speech, stating that, in transport, he was against any more control than was absolutely necessary. He made particular reference to the question of restricting the operations of the motor coach, as is being attempted in the London area, remarking that coach services provide the public with what it wants, and a step of this kind is a gross interference with the liberty of the subject
