Barimar Welding.

Earimar, Ltd., 10, Poland Street, Oxford Street, London, W., has sent to us the illustrations which we include herewith, which show how a neat repair was effected, by this concern, to a cylinder of an Ivel tractor which is used by Mr. S. F. Edge for ploughing and other agricultural work.

The cylinder in question was cracked round the induction port, and as the makers were unable to supply a new component right away, the cylinder was sent to Messrs. Barimar to be welded. In order to get at the fracture it was found necessary to cut away the water jacket as shown in our illustration. The crack was welded, and the water jacket made good within three days, so that the Ivel tractor instead of being idle for some considerable time was only out of commission for about four days.

Another_ point for consideration is that the repair was effected at a relatively small cost as compared with the expense which would have been incurred in purchasing a new cylinder.

This repair affords an example of the value of the Barimar welding process for carrying out quick repiiir work, and bears ample testimony to the reliabilityof this particular welding process.

Besides supplying parts for the latest types of magnetos, the concern manufactures accessories for obsolete patnteortnice, sand is in a position to supply at very short

Several pages in the booklet are devoted to a description of the working of a high-tension magneto, whilst a useful chapter on the detection of faults is included, which should be of considerable assistanc2 to electrical and other engineers.
