• Tools supplier Sykes Pickavant has launched a Blue Chip guarantee scheme. Tools that fail to do the job for which they were designed will be replaced free of charge (fair wear and tear excepted), provided they are returned for examination.
Metalair's three
• Tariker trailer manufacturer Metalair has opened a third service and repair depot at Haverton Hill Road, Billingham, Teesside. The depot will handle tank containers, stainless steel road tankers, aluminium tankers and swap body systems.
Four axles
• Axle manufacturer BPW has appointed four new parts distributors: European Truck Parts of Dudley, Truck and Trailer Equipment of Warley and Diagraph Transport Services of Ainsworth. The fourth, Fleet Care of Deal, offers service as well as parts supply.
Dana catalogues
• Dana has published two more catalogues: one covering its range of steering racks; the other covers electrical items such as starter and wiper motors, alternators and dynamos. The CV range extends to car-derived and panel vans.
£104m rings
• T&N, parent company of AE, is to pay £104m for Goetz, the largest OE supplier of piston rings in Western Europe. The German company also produces valve seats and guides, cylinder liners, and gaskets. In addition to strengthening T&N's piston making activities the company says that Goetz's product range complements its own existing manufacturing capabilities.
Formal service
• Trailer axle manufacturer ROR-Rockwell has set up an aftermarket services department at its plant near Wrexham. ROR-R will continue training for operator's staff and is running refresher courses on its latest axles and suspensions.
MoD batteries
• ATS has gained MoD approval for the supply and fitting of vehicle batteries. The MoD is also looking at competitive tendering for the supply of tyres and exhausts.
