Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

runs from August 13 1969 to August 12 1972 and during the period February 1969 to February 1970, I drove a six-wheel rigid lorry. Do I qualify for a Class II licence? From reading a drivers' handbook for guidance I think I do qualify but one of my colleagues said I would have to take a test. Which one of us is right?

A It would appear that you should qualify automatically for a Class II hgv driving licence without having to take a test.

The qualifying regulations require a driver to have been -in the habit" of driving the class of vehicle for which he requires a licence for a period amounting to six months during the year from February 2, 1969, to February 1, 1970. If you were driving six-wheeled vehicles regularly during that time you will qualify for a licence without having to take a test, so long as you can provide the Licensing Authority with the proper signed statement to this effect, on the hgv application form.
