• The prototype British Leyland gas turbine-powered tractive unit which ShellMex and BP Ltd is to operate on service trials will enter the fleet early in January, Mr D. E. Varney, manager, transport (road) division, told loTA London Centre members recently. The outfit although plated for operation at 38 tons gross weight, would be restricted to 32 tons and would be used for trials in the North West delivering the company's products.
