A MAN ACCUSED of playing a leading role in a Om container theft conspiracy has admitted dishonestly conspiring to handle stolen goods.

On July 16, at the start of a trial at Ipswich Crown Court, Frederick Moore, a market trader of Potters Bar, Hertfordshire, pleaded not guilty to conspiring to steal 28 lorry loads between January 1980 and August 1984.

He denied also an alternative charge of conspiracy to handle stolen goods.

On August 1, he pleaded guilty to the handling charge, and the conspiracy charge was left on the court file.

Also on trial are Stanley Body, of Ho rnch u rch ; Gary Scrivens, of flarries Close, Upshire; and Carmel Borg, of London N15. All have pleaded not guilty to conspiring to steal lorry loads and conspiring to handle stolen goods.

During the trial, which is expected to last another five weeks, the prosecution has alleged that some of the containers were stolen from Felixstowe.
