Keith Sabey, 27, divisional manager for United Carriers at Caerphilly, has been appointed Winchester divisional manager and will be based at the company's new Alton depot, His position at Caerphilly has been filled by Raymond Saltiel, 33, who joins United Carriers from Carryfast. Mr Sabey has been in charge of the Caerphilly depot since it opened in 1971. Mr Saltiei moves to Caerphilly from Birmingham where he was depot manager for Dean Group Transport of Salford (Lancashire) part of Carryfast.
Alan J. Price, 38, has been appointed acting manager of The City of Oxford Motor Services Ltd — an NBC subsidiary company — during the period of the secondment to National Bus Company of the general manager A. Beetham. Mr Price has been traffic manager at Oxford since 1968.
Frank A. J. Woodworth, 52, has been appointed National Travel Manager (Midlands) from September 1. Mr Woodworth is at present general manager of The South Wales Transport Company Ltd, His appointment follows the move of J. A. Birks, to traffic manager with Birmingham & Midland Motor Omnibus Co Ltd.
John Markwick, 35, has been appointed service school training officer of DAF Trucks (GB) Ltd. He was previously employed as a group training officer with the RTITB based in Gloucestershire.
H. Gunner has been appointed managing director of Sheepbridge Engineering Ltd in succession to Tom Brown, who has given up his executive duties after 21 years as md. Mr Brown will continue to serve the company as deputy chairman and chairman of the subsidiary companies.
Duncan H. Foulde has relinquished the directorship of United Transport Co Ltd upon reaching retirement age. Mr Foulds, who joined United Transport Co Ltd from Pickfords in 1962, was until January 1 this year. managing director of Bulwark United Transport, a subsidiary of United Transport and parent of seven subsidiary transport companies in the tanker, heavy haulage and contract fields.
OBITUARY
We record with regret the death of Geoffrey Russell Guest.
Mr Guest, 64, was sales aids development manager of Perkins Engines Ltd. He had been with the company since 1937.
