Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

THE PAGES of costly displayed advertisements for executives in some quality newspapers might give the misleading impression that there are more jobs than candidates. In fact, as the East Midlands Regional Management Centre points out, senior executives' problems in finding new employment after undeserved redundancy are often greater than those of more junior staff. The centre has run intensive four-week residential courses in association with the Manpower Services Commission for the past six years to help such people to find suitable new jobs and to update their knowledge of current management methods. Four-fifths of the participants are claimed to have secured appropriate posts within three months of completing their studies.

From May 4 some places will be available to be sponsored by "employing organisations or individuals" at an inclusive fee of £1,350. It is suggested that companies having to shed senior executives might offer them this training opportunity as part of their compensation.
