DHL SUPPLY CHAIN UK has been showing off the first 18-tonne Volvo FE Hybrid to enter service in Europe. It joins a trial programme that includes 11 Smith Electric 7.5-tonners and a Modec.
stage was 10 weeks on deliveries in the fashion sector. Early results have already shown a 10% fuel saving, despite much of the time having been spent on driver training. The overall target for the trial is 15%.
The Volvo trial is the latest part of DHL's Go Green initiative, which aims to reduce CO2 emissions per pallet by 10% between 2007 and 2012, and 30% by 2020.
