Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Climbing into this truck, we spotted the gearstick and assumed it was like any other 4/4, because that's what it looked like on the gearstick diagram. So that's how we used it. It was only after the event that someone pointed out that it had Comfortshiftand we still don't know what it is! It's also worth knowing that when you do use the gears in the traditional way, it 'clunks into place with a noise that might suggest to the unwary that you had broken something...

We also failed to find any button or lever which would allow us to set up the steering wheel so we ended up doing the test with it in a less-thanideal position, and that made getting at the cruise control and engine brake controls somewhat tricky.

The ride was disappointing, feeling quite juddery at times, and giving a twitchy feeling on the road, which is less than reassuring for a rookie driver, especially round tight, twisty roads. We also found the seat a bit too much like a trampoline for our taste, but have since been told that there's a control for it somewhere!

Overall, despite our gripes, this is an easy truck to drive. Along with the Merc and the Iveco, it has an effective engine brake, which is always reassuring, and a digital readout tells you which gear you're in, which saves some stress.

Inside, the MAN is well laid out and has plenty of room. Its also lighter in colour than the Daf and Merc; this makes the interior a bit more cheerful, but perhaps not quite so serviceable.
