[he new scheme, consisting of audio-visual film strips displayed on portable TV screens in the form of still pictures at present covers alternators, automatic transmissions, PDI and electrical troubleshooting. Further programmes will include tuneup and diagnosis, Leycare, electrical ignition and suspension.
Advantage
This system has the advantage that it can be used anywhere at any time. Examination successes, claimed to be twice as high in some cases, are attributed to the easier absorbtion of the information displayed.
As an approved RTITB scheme, it will qualify for grants.
Leyland Truck and Bus division have no plans to extend this facility to its own applications because it considers that existing training arrangemetns fulfil its requirements.
