GENERAL and Municipal Workers Union Scottish regional secretary Alexander Donnet is to be the new chairman of the Scottish Transport Group.

Mr Donnet will succeed Sir Patrick Thomas, the group's first chaiiman.

The new job will begin for Mr Donnet on January 1 and it is a part-time post.

Scottish Secretary Bruce Milian announced the appointment last week.

Mr Donnet has been a member of the board of the Group since its formation in 1969 and is a former chairman of the Scottish TUC.

British Road Services has appointed two women to break up the male stronghold. Laurel She!lord is to join the Midlands BRS Oxford branch as a driver.

Baker West has appointed Derek Edwards as its new director of psv sales. He is promoted from national sales manager and will be based at the Bordon branch where.he is a former general manager. At Baker West Frome, Somerset John Walker has been appointed coach sales manager responsible for the sales in the West Country and Wales.

Eddie Barber, Road Haulage Association commercial manager for the past seven years is to leave the RHA to emigrate to Canada. Mr Barber was with Essex Carriers and Atlas Express before joining CM Lorry Driver of the Year as an assistant to the secretary.

Barry Geddes, who joined International Paint in 1964, is promoted to a newly created position as colour services manager. In this capacity. he will be responsible for deve loping and extending the company's colour range, as well as working closely with the technical laboratories to produce new mixing schemes and new products to the refinish trade.

Kenneth Watson is appointed a refinishing sales representative for the Vehicle Finishes Division. He will join the Northern Area under Steve Taylor's leadership and will operate from Chapelen-le-Frith.

J. Holt, who has been appointed managing director of Humber MacViegh Ltd, of South Humberside Industrial Estate, was formerly md of .1. Stirland of Notts, a TDG company. He. succeeds Geof Hallam who left the company earlier this year to become a transport and distribution consultant in his own right.
