Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Maintenance problems have resulted in the authorisation on the licence held by Newportbased UK European Transport Services, trading as Mallett Transport, being cut from 17 vehicles and 23 trailers to 14 vehicles and 19 trailers.

The company had been called before Welsh Deputy Traffic Commissioner Roger Seymour at a Pontypool disciplinary inquiry. The company gave a series of undertakings in relation to its future vehicle maintenance arrangements. The DTC held that the repute of nominated transport manager John Mallet was lost, giving the company three months to find a replacement. However, he added that the TC would be prepared to consider reinstating Mallet's repute as a transport manager following a satisfactory maintenance investigation by Vosa, the fulfilment of all the undertakings, and a corresponding reduction in prohibition notices issued.
