Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

N application by Barton Trans-1. port, ,Ltd., to operate an express rvice between Melton Mowbray and landudno was granted by the East idland Licensing Authority at

ottingham last week. The service ill operate daily from July 1 to iptember 30, picking up passengers Melton and Leicester.

Permission was originally granted r the service to operate in 1951, but following an 'appeal by the Railway Executive, it was withdrawn after seven weeks. .

Mr. C. ,Barton, traffic manager and a director of Barton's, said the application was made in response to numerous queries. "We run a service between Nottingham and Llandudno and have carried 88,000 passengers on it since 1950," he said. "Some of the people who used the service came from the Leicester and Melton areas to Nottingham rather than use a train."

A spokesman for the railways said they feared that if the application were granted it would take traffic from them. Witnesses had complained of the rail service on only one day of the year—August Bank Holiday Saturday.
