WE CONTINUE to receive suggestions in large numbers from readers who have studied, at our instigation, the question of securing greater safety for all users of the road, and now that time has permitted, readers who are living overseas (and many of them with experience of traffic conditions and methods of control in other countries) are sending us their contributions. We regard these of value, because the wider one's experience of traffic the more qualified is one to offer useful and frequently simple suggestions for the removal of road risks.

The proprietors of The Commercial Motor and its associated journals; offer the sum Qi 2250, to be allocated as awards to those whose submitted ideas, aiming at the lessening of traffic risks and a reduction of the number of accidents on the road, are considered by the editors of those journals to be most suitable for such recognition. The sum stated is divided into 10 awards of gio each, 15 awards of £5 each, 25 vvards.of Li each, and 100 awards of 10s. each, ma ing 150 awards in all.

The qu stion put to our readers is : "What is the most pr tical method of increasing the safety of motor ye icle driving and the use of the highway by all ? "

This q estion is capable of the broadest definition, and ther ore it may be approached from any angle. Commercial vehicle drivers should be able to deal, from the pr,int of view of the overtaken, with the question of overtaking, which is rightly regarded as a fruitful source of accident.

The literary character of the contributions to this discussion will not be considered in making the awards; merit of the idea or ideas submitted will be the only basis. Suggestions should be sent in at once. Letters should be addressed to the Editor of The Commercial Motor, 7-15, Rosebery Avenue, London, E.G.!, and be plainly marked Highways Safety.' The closing date will be announced shortly.
